Bernard Laverty

Bernard is the founder of Tutor Me Online and a subject matter expert of secondary English having taught at Proserpine State High School in North Queensland, St Andrews Lutheran College on the Gold Coast and is now based in Victoria at St Pauls Anglican Grammar School.

Representing Gen Y, Bernard is abreast of current events in popular culture and doesn't require Google translate for terms such as "spilling the tea," "cutting shapes" and "lit fam." Unlike other tutors that haven't completed their university degree or even stepped foot in a classroom to deliver the curriculum, Bernard has accrued extensive experience in teaching middle and senior English for over ten years.

Bernard has taught English to over a thousand students from Years 7 to Year 12 in both Queensland and Victoria. As a current classroom teacher, he's seen first hand the challenges and struggles faced by students that find English difficult. Especially considering the detrimental impacts that social media has had on English language use and how online streaming services such as Netflix have become a more appealing proposition to reading a fictional narrative. In spite of the influences and challenges in modern society, Bernard takes great pride in tailoring tutoring sessions to the needs of the individual to improve literacy and language skills.
